My travel experience to Periyar (Thekkady)

Normally if we get a holiday- I will drive with my family to any  tourist places near to cochin. This time we have gone to thekkady its 5 hours /160 KMS drive from Ernakulam- the shortest route will be touching Pala, Kuttikanam, Kumily Town.

We have started to thekkady by nearly 5am from cochin-reached in thekkady by 10 am – we had the breakfast enroute. We have  pre-booked our Periyar Boating tickets so didn’t want to be in Que for long time. If its holidays may be there will be long que to get the tickets, so we suggest better Pre-book the tickets in online www.periyarfoundation.online ( Try for the same)

In kumily town either you can park your vehicle in the hotel which you are staying otherwise there is a parking ground near to the ticket counter…

There will be Periyar Forest department bus which they will take you to the Boating Area ( Thekkady).   ( Bus ticket will be charged Rs.40 per Person) up and down charges.  Approximate 2 KMS from Town. After Boating also the same bus will take down to the parking bay in kumily Town.

If you have the boating ticket you can show the same in thekkady boating periyar counter, so that they will issue final ticket depending up on the timing of the Boat  Service.
